Modular Buildings: An Alternative To Traditional Construction

in Construction

It seems like almost every construction project is accompanied by hassles and headaches. Building projects are often messy, and construction dust seems to find its way on to any surface close by. Worst of all, construction projects often take much longer than expected.

Companies across the world are looking to an incredibly popular alternative method of construction called modular building. This style of construction offers lots of flexibility, faster build times and a dramatic decrease in on-site construction mess.

Modular construction can be used for a wide variety of projects that range from in-plant offices to additional production space, to even entire buildings.  Although these modular buildings are constructed using alternative methods, it is very hard to tell by looking at them from the outside.

Using factory- controlled conditions, modular building components are crafted in a highly efficient environment. Modular buildings are made incredibly quickly, and far less waste is created. Furthermore, excess materials like paper, aluminum and steel are recycled during the modular building phase.

Once the modular building components are completed, they are shipped to the job site. Instead of a long drawn out on-site construction process, the assembly of the modular components happens incredibly quickly. Several construction studies have shown that modular buildings are completed 40%-60% faster than projects using traditional construction.

With the decreased on-site build time comes a host of benefits. During a typical construction project, employees may need to work around construction, be relocated, or at worst, halt production. All of these things hinder productivity, and the longer a construction project drags on the more costly it can be for the business.

The fast building process of modular construction eliminates the downtime and added cost for your business. Additionally, modular eliminates the pain of having an army of contractors or subcontractors coming and going from your facility.  Modular construction eliminates the need for framers, painters, drywall workers, electricians, and many others. A small team of installers can have modular buildings completed very fast without all the intrusion.

In conclusion, modular buildings are a great resource that can save your company time and money. Modular solutions are completely scalable and offer solutions for companies of all sizes. Additionally, modular products are incredibly durable, and yet they still have a great deal of flexibility. Many modular products come with the flexibility to be moved or reconfigured and are available in a wide variety of colors and finishes.
